Dr. Sana Hanzeh, clinical Advisor of the Restart Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Torture in Lebanon, received the 8th Barbara Chester Award by the US based Hopi Foundation.

Noting, that the award is granted to psychotherapists who follow international standards in providing healing services for victims of torture, specifically, those with outstanding achievements in the field. On the award, Hamzeh considered it an added value to humanitarian work in the country and an international recognition of the importance of the rehabilitation of said victim. She said that since the inception of Restart in 1996, she has treated about 20,000 survivors and worked for the empowerment of refugees and persons suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder, PTSD, and other conditions. Similarly, the minister of state for economic empowerment of women and youth, Violette Safadi, thanked Hamzeh for contributing to promoting Lebanon’s image to this effect, saying, “Congratulations for the humanitarian award in a world where injustice is mounting by day.”
